TERMS OF SERVICE

The ground rules.

Playbook is a free college football pick’em and fantasy game for adults. It takes no wagers and moves no money. Here is what you agree to when you play.

Last updated September 23, 2026. This is a plain-language summary of how Playbook works. We wrote it to be read, not skimmed past. Questions? Contact us.

01Agreeing to these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Playbook (“Playbook”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Playbook website or iPhone app, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Playbook.

02Who can use Playbook

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must give accurate account information and keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.
  • One person per account. Do not create accounts for other people without their permission.

03Playbook is not a sportsbook

Playbook does not accept wagers, hold money, process payments, or pay out prizes. It is a free pick’em and fantasy game for entertainment.

  • Point spreads, moneylines and ratings are shown for reference, so your group has a shared line to pick against. They are not offers to bet, and nothing on Playbook is betting advice.
  • Picks have no cash value. Standings and results are for bragging rights inside your group.
  • If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, call 1-800-GAMBLER.

04Groups and commissioners

The person who creates a group is its commissioner. Commissioners choose the group’s games, rules, deadlines and who may join.

  • Some groups agree to entry fees, pots or side stakes. Playbook lets a commissioner note the amount, name a group banker and mark who has paid, but any money is collected and paid between members, outside of Playbook. We are not a party to those arrangements and do not verify, hold or distribute any funds.
  • Commissioners are responsible for making sure their group, and any money their group exchanges, complies with the laws that apply where they and their members live. Paid pools are illegal in some places.
  • Commissioners may remove members, change settings and settle disputes within their group. Playbook grades picks from the data sources described below, and those grades are final for the app’s standings.

05Acceptable use

Keep it a friendly game. Do not:

  • use Playbook for illegal gambling or to take bets as a business;
  • harass, threaten or impersonate anyone, or use offensive group names, nicknames or photos;
  • try to access other people’s accounts or data, get around pick locks or deadlines, or interfere with the service;
  • scrape, copy or resell Playbook’s data, or use automated tools to create accounts or make picks;
  • upload anything you do not have the right to share.

You keep ownership of what you post, like your photo and group names. You give us permission to store and display it to run Playbook for you and your groups.

06Group chat and moderation

Every group has a chat that only its members can read. The acceptable-use rules above apply to every message, and there is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.

  • You can report any message and block any member from the message’s menu. Blocking hides that person’s messages from you in every group, and they are not told.
  • A message’s author and the group’s commissioners can delete it. A message reported by three members is hidden automatically until we review it.
  • We review reports within 24 hours, remove content that breaks these terms, and may suspend or close the accounts responsible.

07Sports data, trademarks and no affiliation

  • Schedules, scores, lines and ratings come from third parties, including ESPN, CollegeFootballData and odds sources. ESPN data, including ESPN Football Power Index ratings, belongs to ESPN. We try to keep all of it accurate and on time, but we do not guarantee it, and a feed can be late or wrong.
  • When a line is shown with a sportsbook logo, such as DraftKings, FanDuel, ESPN Bet or Kalshi, the logo only identifies where that line came from.
  • Team names, logos and conference marks are shown to identify the teams and games.
  • All of those names and logos are trademarks of their owners. Playbook is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any sportsbook, ESPN, the NCAA, any conference or any school.
  • The Playbook name, logo and app design belong to us.

08Disclaimers

Playbook is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise that it will always be available, error-free or that data will be accurate, and to the fullest extent the law allows we disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

09Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Playbook will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any money won, lost or owed between members of a group. Our total liability for any claim about Playbook is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the past 12 months (Playbook is free, so usually zero) or $50. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

10Ending your account

You can stop using Playbook and delete your account at any time from the Account page. We may suspend or close accounts or groups that break these terms or put other people or the service at risk. We may also change or discontinue features, and we will try to give notice of major changes.

11Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Playbook changes. We will update the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will tell you in the app or by email. If you keep using Playbook after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.
