PRIVACY POLICY

Your data, in plain language.

What Playbook collects, why we need it, who helps us run the service, and how to get a copy of your data or delete it.

Last updated September 23, 2026. This is a plain-language summary of how Playbook works. We wrote it to be read, not skimmed past. Questions? Contact us.

01The short version

Playbook is a college football pick’em and fantasy app for private groups. We collect what we need to run your account, your picks and your groups, and nothing we would be uncomfortable explaining to you.

  • We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
  • We do not run ads.
  • You can delete your account, and the data tied to it, at any time from the Account page on the web or in the iPhone app.

02What we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: your email address, your name, and an optional nickname and profile photo. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the name and email that provider shares with us. Apple may give us a private relay email instead of your real one.
  • Phone number, if you add one. It is optional, and it is not shown to other members.
  • Picks and game activity: the teams you pick, when you submit them, the line at the time you picked, and your results and standings.
  • Groups: groups you create or join, their names, settings and rules, invite codes, membership requests, and any entry-fee or payout notes a commissioner types in.
  • Fantasy activity: your fantasy team, roster moves, draft picks and trades.
  • Group chat and moderation: messages you post, message reports and the players you block. Messages are shared with your group; reports and reported content are available to the Playbook team for moderation. Blocking hides that player’s messages from you without notifying them.
  • Messages to us: whatever you send through the support form, along with the email you give us to reply to.

Information collected automatically

  • Push notification tokens: if you allow notifications in the iPhone app, Apple gives us a device token so we can send reminders to that device.
  • Usage analytics: we use Vercel Analytics to count page views and a small set of product events (for example, “group created”). It does not use cookies for this and does not build a profile of you across other sites.
  • Sign-in and technical logs: we record when you sign in, and our hosting providers keep standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and error details, to keep the service secure and working.
  • Sign-in cookies: we use cookies that keep you signed in. They are required for the app to work.

03How we use it

  • To run your account, save your picks, grade them and keep standings.
  • To show your name, avatar, picks and results to the other members of groups you join, according to each group’s rules.
  • To send the emails and notifications you expect: account confirmations, password resets, group request decisions, and pick reminders you can turn off.
  • To answer support requests, prevent abuse, and fix bugs.
  • To understand, in aggregate, which features people use so we can improve them.

04Who processes it for us

We use a small number of service providers. Each one handles data only to provide its service to Playbook.

  • Supabase: our database, authentication and file storage (account data, picks, groups and profile photos).
  • Vercel: web hosting, scheduled jobs and Vercel Analytics.
  • Resend: sends our transactional emails.
  • Google and Apple: if you choose Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple, they authenticate you under their own privacy policies. Apple also delivers push notifications to the iPhone app.
  • Sports data providers: we receive schedules, scores, lines and ratings from ESPN, CollegeFootballData (CFBD) and odds sources. We only receive data from them. We do not send them your personal information.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect people’s safety or the service, or as part of a merger or sale of Playbook. We would tell you before your information became subject to a different privacy policy.

05How long we keep it

  • Account data, picks and group history are kept for as long as your account is open, so past seasons and standings stay accurate.
  • Chat messages removed by an author, commissioner or moderator are hidden from the chat, but their text is retained for moderation review. Deleting your account deletes your chat messages, reports and blocks.
  • When you delete your account, your profile, picks, group memberships, notification settings and device tokens are deleted. Copies can remain in our providers’ backups for a limited time before they are overwritten.
  • Support messages and email delivery records are kept only as long as we need them to answer you and troubleshoot delivery.
  • Aggregate analytics that no longer identify you may be kept longer.

06Your choices and deleting your account

  • Edit your profile: change your name, nickname, photo and phone number on the Account page.
  • Emails: turn group-decision emails and pick reminders on or off on the Account page, or use the link at the bottom of any reminder.
  • Push notifications: turn them off at any time in iPhone Settings.
  • Delete your account: open Account on the web or in the iPhone app and choose Delete account. Groups you run are handed to another member, or closed if you are the only one, and we show you which before you confirm.
  • Access or correction: depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of your data or ask us to correct or delete it. Contact us and we will respond promptly.

07Security

Connections to Playbook are encrypted, passwords are handled by our authentication provider and never stored in plain text, and database access is limited by row-level security rules. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

08Children

Playbook is for adults 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has an account, let us know and we will delete it.

09Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
